Apple is certainly not the only tech company looking to dominate the ever-more competitive mini tablet market. And around the world, the Ipad mini's price is NOT helping to give the company a jump start.

It sells for around 170 US dollars more than major rivals like the "Kindle Fire HD", Barnes and Noble's "Nook HD" and Google's "Nexus 7". However, in one of the world's largest and fastest-growing tablet markets, Apple still dominates. In China, Apple topped the tablet table in the second quarter of 2012, with a huge 72.6 percent market share.

Trailing behind were Chinese brands Lenovo and Eben with 8.4 percent and 3.6 percent respectively. Apple's arch-rival Samsung joins them, with just under 4 percent of the Chinese tablet market.
