While the baby shelter in Guangzhou was unable to meet the demand, China is setting up more shelters across the country in an effort to improve the care of abandoned infants. Baby shelters were first introduced in Shijiazhuang, the capital of China's northern Hebei province, in 2011. Within two and a half years, the shelter had become home to more than 220 abandoned infants.
因为目前广州婴儿岛的规模已不能满足需求，中国正在筹备在全国范围内设立更多的婴儿岛以改善弃婴的生活。中国河北省的石家庄市于2011年首次引进婴儿岛。在两年半的时间里，婴儿岛成为220多名弃婴的家园。
