In this lesson, we will be focusing on

First on the agenda, we will be working with the verb 'be'
首先,我们来看一下"be"动词
The forms of 'be' are positive, negative and question forms "be"
的形式可分为肯定式,否定式和疑问式
While we know that verbs are doing words
我们知道动词是表示动作的词
there are also verbs that are being words
但也有表示状态的动词
These are 'am, 'is' and 'are'
即"am" "is"和"are"
'I am tired', 'she is sick today' "
我累了" ",她今天生病了"
'they are old friends' "
他们是老朋友"
We can also shorten words by using an apostrophe
我们也可以用撇号进行缩写
Apostrophes' signal to us
撇号表示
that one or more letters have been left out of the word
单词中省略了一个或多个字母
'I'm tired', 'she's sick today' "
我累了" ",她今天生病了"
'they're old friends' "
他们是老朋友"
The examples on screen are positive
屏幕上的例子是肯定式的
We form negatives by placing not after the verb
我们通过在动词后面加not构成否定式
'I am not tired' "
我不累"
'she is not sick today' "
她今天没生病"
'they are not old friends' "
他们不是老朋友"
We can use the shortened form with negatives as well
我们也可以使用否定式的缩写形式
'I'm not tired'
比如 "我不累"
'she's not sick today' "
她今天没生病"
'they're not old friends' "
他们不是老朋友"
To form questions we place the verb
可将动词提到句子主语前面
before the subject of the sentence
构成疑问句
'Am I tired?' "
我累了吗?"
'Is she sick today?' "
她今天生病了吗?"
'Are they old friends?' "
他们是老朋友吗?"
To help you to be to understand to how to use the verb 'be'

Did you notice the use of the verb

'be' in their dialogue?

Let's revise some of the sentences

We use 'an' before a word that begins with a vowel

'An apple', 'an emergency' "

'an unusual circumstance' "

We use 'a' before a word that begins with a consonant
我们在以辅音字母开头的单词之前使用"a"
Consonants are everything else that's not a vowel
辅音字母是除元音字母以外的所有字母
'A book', 'a good movie' "
一本书" ",一部好电影"
'a tomato' "
