One word about the Audex system is

we don't necessarily get messages instantly

It's kind of a new irritating thing, but you might call me,

and if I'm on the phone in my office, it will record it

but no light comes on instantly, so I've had students say

you know, "Why didn't you respond to me more quickly"

It's because how the system works

Email's a very good way to communicate with me

I check my email way too much

But we'll read this first, and there are a couple of good general books on

Arthur

You may be have already read some

But why it was written in the late 30s

is probably the best way to get an overview

When we read this, it's important to realize

that it is actually 4 separate books

And so if you've been reading like the Harry Potter series

for example, you know you could theoretically

jump in one and read it

And if, if you did like I did and just sat down

and read all all the ones at once, you'd think gosh

this is being repetitious

Well, you know, one, this may, the idea here is

when you're reading the second part

of the Queen of Air and Darkness,

not necessarily even read the first book,

and so there are gonna be times you stop again,

you say, "I remember this; I just read this 3 weeks ago "

But this was originally published as 4 separate books,

and there is actually a 5th book in the series which is not included, but the last

one is Candle in The Wind

which gets back to the core of The Once and Future King

So we'll be reading these for quite a while

The second thing we'll do oh there are other books,

they're a really good book

If you want another general book,

if you just wanna read something, there's a book by Thomas Berger which is Arthur Rex

This is a very good book

The reason I don't use it is that there's a lot more sex in it

and I'm just it's not worth the pain

to have somebody go complain about

"this book he's having me read "

So he'll read Arthur with more sex, read Berger's book

We'll go then back to Chrétien and actually

there is a person before Chrétien who wrote down about Arthur.His name is

And he's the first one who wrote down about Arthur,
