If we're referring to a place
如果我们指的是一个地方
we use “where”
要用 where
Wellington is the place where you will find the Beehive

This is the café where you will get good coffee

If we're referring to a specific time
如果我们指的是一个特定时间
we use “when”
要用 when
I don't remember the day last week
我不记安娜忘掉密码
when Anna forgot her password
是上个星期的星期几了
If we're referring to people's possessions
当表示所有关系的时候
we use “whose”
要用 whose
There is the man whose letterbox was stolen
那就是被偷了信箱的人
Relative pronouns are very common
关系代词很常见

Remember that we use quantifiers to give answers to the questions

How much and how many
how much和 how many提出的问题
Countable nouns can be singular for one
可数名词可以是单数
or plural for more than one
也可以是复数
Plurals have an “s” on the end
复数有 s 在结尾
One cat
一只猫
Two cats
两只猫
Thirty-two countries
三十二个国家
If a noun is uncountable
如果名词是不可数的
It does not have a plural form
它就没有复数形式
We do not say “salts” or “rices”
不能说 salts 或 rices
We just say “salt” or “rice”
只能说 salt 或 rice
With countable nouns
可数名词
we can use the quantifiers
可以用下面的量词修饰
several, a few, quite a few, very few, many
比如several, a few, quite a few, very few, many
a number of, loads of, hundreds of, dozens of and too many
a number of, loads of, hundreds of, dozens of 和 too many
We can put any of these in a sentence like this
我们可以把这些词任意放进句子里
There are hundreds of books in the library
图书馆有上百本书
Books is a countable noun
书是个可数名词
With uncountable nouns
而不可数名词呢
we can use the quantifiers
则可以用下面的量词修饰
a little, very little, quite a bit of, much
a little, very little, quite a bit of, much
a great deal of or too much
a great deal of 或 too much
We can put any of these in a sentence like this
我们可以把这些词任意放进句子里
There is quite a bit of butter in the container
容器里有不少奶油
Butter is an uncountable noun
奶油是个不可数名词
Some quantifiers can be used with both
有些量词与可数和不可数名词
countable and uncountable nouns
都可以连用
For example
比如下面这些
a lot of, lots of, enough, plenty of and some
a lot of, lots of, enough, plenty of 和 some
