She really is the one that coined this term, jungle effect

To describe what was happening to her there and really what inspired the title for my book

The next part of the inspiration for me was my own travels

And as you all know being in San Francisco, it gets horribly cold here during the summer

And one summer in particular, I decided to volunteer in a little away side village in a very, very remote part of Peru
