Hillary Clinton declared a historic victory with a decisive win in the California primary. But her rival for the Democratic nomination, Bernie Sanders, said he would remain in the contest until the party convention in Philadelphia in July. President Barack Obama telephoned both candidates and is expected to endorse Mrs Clinton imminently.
