The first woman of color in space doesn't think that colonizing Mars is enough. Mae Jemison's 100 Year Starship is about creating the capabilities of reaching planets way farther than Mars - even farther than our solar system!

Jemison spoke out about diversity and said, "We can't do any of these things until we start to include the full breadth of human skills, people, experience, expertise, ambitions and dreams." Her plan involves getting to another star within 100 years, forcing people to rethink our resources on Earth. She said, "At some point in time we're gonna have to figure out how to see ourselves as Earthling."
