On Thursday, Google announced that it will begin featuring an ad blocker in its Chrome browser starting in 2018. The move is in response to the search giant's recent joining of the group 'Coalition for Better Ads'.

In a statement, Google added, "The vast majority of online content creators fund their work with advertising. Annoying, intrusive ads have led users to block advertisements altogether via extensions and other tools." According to the Wall Street Journal, Google is giving publishers around six months to prepare themselves for the roll out of the ad blocker tool.
