Phrasal verbs are very common in English.
英语中，动词短语很常见，
There are over 5,000 phrasal verbs and they're usually used in informal language.
有超过5000个动词短语，通常用于非正式语体中。
Wow, are we going to go over all of them today?
哇哦，我们今天要全部过一遍吗？
No, I don't think we can get around to that.
不是的，我不认为我们能讲那么多，
But we will go into how to identify them and use them.
但是我们会谈到怎么识别并使用它们。
A phrasal verb is a VERB followed by a preposition or an adverb, or both.
动词短语由动词+介词/副词/介词+副词构成。例如：
I ran into my old friend at the mall.
我在商场碰到老朋友了。
Mom, can I sleep over at my friend's house tonight?
妈妈， 我今晚可以在朋友家过夜吗？
Some phrasal verbs allow an object to separate the phrase, while other phrasal verbs have to stay together.
部分动词短语中间可插入名词，其他则不能。
But it's easy to get confused. Some phrasal verbs have more than one meaning.
但很容易混淆。部分动词短语有几个意思。
So how do you tell the difference?
因为如何区分他们呢？
You have to consider the context of the sentence. For example,
必须考虑短语所处的语境，例如：
Look up the word in the dictionary.
在字典里查下这个词。
Here, "look up" is a phrasal verb that means "to research."
例句中，look up这一动词短语的意思是to research（搜索，搜查）。
But, if you said, Look up! The stars are beautiful.
但是，如果你说，看！星星好漂亮。
You are using the literal meaning of "look up."
例句中你用到了look up的字面意思，即“看”。
