and today we're exploring Sangenjaya

Sangenjaya is in the Setagaya Ward in south-west Tokyo
三轩茶屋在东京西南部的世田谷区
it is only a five minute train ride away from Shibuya station
距离涉谷站仅五分钟火车
yet it has a completely different atmosphere.

It's a calmer old neighbourhood in Tokyo
这里是东京安静的老城区
and has a lot of interesting streets and unique shops.
有很多有趣的街道和别开生面的小店
Today I'll be showing you one of my favourite cafes in this area,

free views of Tokyo from up high,

and also the hidden back-alleys where you can enjoy the best local experience of Japanese drinking and eating

The first place I went to was this coffee shop called Komeda Coffee.
我来的第一家店是这个叫“Komeda Coffee”的咖啡吧
They have more than 400 branches across Japan
他们在全国内有400多家分店
and it is a very popular coffee shop amongst the locals
也是当地人特别喜欢的一家咖啡吧
so sometimes you might have to write your name down

and wait a little before they call you.

It has a comfortable atmosphere

so it's a great place to come alone or with others.

And when you come to Japan

most places will give you this Oshibori, a wet hand towel, to wipe your hands before you eat

I get so use to this that I miss not getting it when I'm overseas

There's a lot to choose from but Komeda Coffee is famous for their sandwiches.
这家咖啡吧有很多吃的，但人气比较高的是他们的三明治
The food sold here is also a very typical breakfast meal for Japanese
他们家卖的也是日本人典型的早餐
Their sweets and coffees are also very popular here.
他们家的甜点和咖啡也非常受欢迎
I wasn't too hungry so I decided to get the egg bun
我不是很饿，所有我决定要一个这种鸡蛋汉堡
and when you're ready to order just press the bell and they will come
准备好点餐之后，你只要按一下这个铃，服务员就会过来
So this is what it looked like
那鸡蛋汉堡就是这个样子的啦
Komeda Coffee cuts up the egg
他们把蛋切碎之后
and mixes it with Japanese mayonnaise which makes it taste really good
和日式蛋黄酱混合在一起，味道真的非常不错
and actually egg and mayonnaise is a typical filling in Japanese sandwiches.

So now let's walk and see the free view from the tallest tower in this area

Sangenjaya has a few shopping streets where the locals go to do their everyday shopping
三轩茶屋有几条商业街，当地人每天都会去那些地方买东西
It has many different shops so it's very convenient to find what you're looking for.

It's really interesting, the Japanese infrastructure is really different.
日本的基建真的很不一样，很有趣
and it's so cramped, all these little back alleys
这些后街到处都特别拥挤
they hardly have any gardens

so you know, what do the kids do?
你懂的，那小孩儿都干嘛呀
I mean, when I was a kid I loved to play in the garden
我小的时候就喜欢在花园里玩啊
but then again I'm from New Zealand
但是，又要说一下，我是新西兰人
so that's all we had, like nature and all that stuff
我们有的就是大自然之类的东西
Ah the typhoon is coming, look how windy this is
啊，台风又来了，你们看，风好大啊
I personally love local areas, as you know,
我个人非常喜欢当地人生活的地方，你们知道的
but I also want to show them to people, you know
但我也喜欢跟大家介绍这些地方
because a lot of people, they don't know how to find it
因为很多人都不知道怎么找到这些地方
especially if you're a tourist in Tokyo
尤其是你只是来东京玩儿的话
