On the bottom of page 3, that the dwarf's viciousness
so just the very words used with these different characters, the dwarf, you know, "vicious"
I think the other knight is furious
And so words that we tend to view as negative in some way at least
The dwarf's viciousness was unequal
and it gave him a great stroke across the neck with his scourge
The knight, Erec thinks, he tried to do something more

But we again get proverbial material

And I've also, I know, I probably said ad nauseum
But anything it's kind of been an oral tradition that the folk have had a chance to kind of form and shape
We're gonna expect a certain amount of wisdom
And so proverbs coming forward, and here in Line 4 on page 4,
he says there's no valor in foolishness
And so this other guy, he's armed, he's big,
I have no armor, I'm already cut up,
it doesn't make much sense to go get beat up more
and so I don't know what he's gonna do about this, his face is cut to ribbons, cut to ribbons
and he's not, he has no armor
But consistently this again, you know, core material of revenge
And one thing as we read this it's interesting to me and you have to stop and think about this is
that you know here is White writing in 1940 basically, they refer to White in the tape from La Mort d'Arthur about a more modern renditio
You have other people writing 30 years later, basically saying the same thing
and we are back what 800 years earlier almost 800 years earlier,
and we're in the same stuff
It goes back to White's question at one point, "Have we really changed so much?"
And I think it's one of things that I find attractive about Medieval literature
A lot of times it says its stuff more clearly
Or without as much you know filth
