Harry heard the door of the Hall creak open again, and more footsteps.
哈利听见大厅的门响了一声又开了，还听见了更多的脚步声。
'Headmaster?' It was Snape. Harry kept quite still, listening hard.
“校长？”这是斯内普。哈利仍旧静静地躺着，用心去听。
'The whole of the third floor has been searched. He's not there.
“整个四楼都查过了，他不在那里。
And Filch has done the dungeons; nothing there, either.'
费尔奇查了城堡主楼，那里也没有。”
'What about the Astronomy Tower? Professor Trelawney's room? The Owlery?'
“天文塔呢？特里劳妮教授的房间？猫头鹰栖息出没的地方？”
'All searched...' 'Very well, Severus. I didn't really expect Black to linger.'
“都查过了……”“很好，西弗勒斯，我并不真正以为布莱克会逗留不走。”
'Have you any theory as to how he got in, Professor?' asked Snape.
“他怎么进来的，关于这一点，你有什么见解吗，校长？”斯内普问道。
Harry raised his head very slightly off his arms to free his other ear.
哈利把头稍稍抬起一点，以便另外一只耳朵听得清楚些。
'Many, Severus, each of them as unlikely as the next.'
“许多，西弗勒斯，每一种都和底下的那种一样不可能。”
Harry opened his eyes a fraction and squinted up to where they stood;
哈利眼睛睁开了一条缝，偷偷向他们站的地方看。
Dumbledore's back was to him, but he could see Percy's face, rapt with attention, and Snape's profile, which looked angry.
邓布利多背对着他，但他可以看到珀西的脸，但见他全神贯注，还可以看到斯内普的侧面，斯内普似乎在生气。
'You remember the conversation we had, Headmaster, just before — ah — the start of term?'
“你记得我们的谈话罢，校长，就在——哦——学期开始以前吧？”
said Snape, who was barely opening his lips, as though trying to block Percy out of the conversation.
斯内普说，说话时嘴唇几乎没有张开，好像是不想让珀西参与他们的谈话似的。
'I do, Severus,' said Dumbledore, and there was something like warning in his voice.
“记得，西弗勒斯。”邓布利多说，声音里含有类似警告的意味。
'It seems — almost impossible — that Black could have entered the school without inside help.
“好像——几乎不可能——布莱克没有内部的帮助是进不了这所学校的，
I did express my concerns when you appointed —'
我的确表示过关注，在你任命——”
'I do not believe a single person inside this castle would have helped Black enter it,'
“我不相信这座城堡里哪一个人会帮助布莱克进来。”
said Dumbledore, and his tone made it so clear that the subject was closed that Snape didn't reply.
邓布利多说，他的声调清楚地表明这件事就谈到这里为止，因此斯内普没有作答。
