My friend is so upset. Her son is failing school.
我朋友很烦心啊 她儿子在学校不及格
Oh boy. What is she doing about it?
哦天 那她是怎么解决的？
Well, she bought him a new computer, a bunch of educational games,
她给他买了一台新电脑 一堆教育类的游戏
and therapy, you know, to help him with his fear of tests.
还有治疗 你懂的 帮他克服考试恐惧
Sounds like she is just throwing money at the problem.
听起来她只是在花钱解决问题呀
Maybe the kid just needs to study more?
或许她儿子只是需要更刻苦一点呢？
If something breaks in your house, you can pay someone to fix it.
如果家里的东西坏了 你可以付钱让别人来修
If you have a health problem, you can pay a doctor to help you.
如果你身体出毛病了 可以付钱找医生帮忙
But it can't fix everything. To "throw money at a problem" means to spend a lot of money instead of trying other methods.
但钱不是万能的 "throw money at a problem"的意思是花很多钱而不是尝试其他办法
