So, your friend Sam helped me with my taxes the other day.
前几天 你朋友Sam帮我算了税
How did it go? At first I thought he wasn't going to work out.

He looks very unprofessional with his long hair and tattoos.
他的长发和纹身让他看起来像个外行
But he is great with numbers. He is a diamond in the rough.
但他真的很擅长算数 他是个外粗内秀的人
He is. And he saved me tons of money on my taxes.

Uncut diamonds look rough.
未经切割的钻石看起来很粗糙
They look like little stones that couldn't be worth much.
看起来就像没啥价值的小石头
But their value is hidden beneath the rough appearance.
但它们的价值藏在粗糙的表面之下
People who look rough on the outside but have great abilities are called "diamonds in the rough."
外表看起来很糙但能力却很棒的人叫做“diamonds in the rough”
