错误是正确之母 如何改正错误才最高效(2)

来源:可可英语 编辑:hepburn   可可英语APP下载 |  可可官方微信:ikekenet

So, the correct one is: "He arrived at the airport at 7:00", and this is wrong.

所以,正确答案是:“He arrived at the airport at 7:00”,这个就是错的。

And why?

为什么不对?

Again, the principle.

还是那个原则。

The principle is that we have to mention place before time, okay?

地点在前,时间在后,记住了吗?

"I arrived at the party at 7:00", "I arrived at the airport at 7:00", "I arrived at the office at 7:00", okay?

“I arrived at the party at 7:00”,“I arrived at the airport at 7:00”,“I arrived at the office at 7:00”,都是地点在前,时间在后,

And not the other way around.

而不是时间在前,地点在后。

So, once you understand the principle,

一旦大家知道了这个原则,

you'll be able to apply it when you're speaking and when you're writing.

就能在口语或写作中运用这个原则。

All right.

好的。

Number five, this is a question of comparative adjectives:

第五个例子,这是一个形容词比较级的例子:

"The weather is better today" or "The weather is more better today"?

是“The weather is better today”呢?还是“The weather is more better today”呢?

Which is right, or are both right?

哪个是对的?还是两个都对?

Both are definitely not right in this case; and in fact, one of them is always wrong.

这种情况下,肯定不是两种说法都对;事实上,有一种说法永远是错的。

Which one is always wrong?

那哪一种说法是错的?

This one.

这种。

This is the only correct option.

这才是唯一正确的选择。

So, if you ever hear anyone saying: "more better", it's always wrong, okay?

所以,如果你听到有人说:“more better”,无论是谁说的,都是错的,好吗?

And that's because that's the only form.

因为这个才是唯一正确的形式。

You have "good", "better", and "the best".

只有“good”、“better”和“the best”。

There is nothing else, okay?

再就没有了,记住了吗?

So, some of these you learn by just knowing that there is never a case,

总而言之,这种情况,你只要知道,没有,

there are no rules that sometimes you use this one and sometimes you use that one - no.

没有一个规则说你一会儿可以用这个,一会儿可以用那个,没有的。

That's the only option.

就只有一个选择。

All right?

好吗?

Now let's look at five more from my course.

下面,我们再来看5个例子。

All right, let's do number six.

好的,我们来看第6个。

So, here, we are talking about a car, all right?

这句话我们要谈论的是一辆车,看见了吗?

And let's look at this mistake.

我们来看看这个句子的问题。

This is a mistake in writing.

这是一个书写错误。

The first one: "It's tires need to be changed" or "Its tires need to be changed"?

是第一种说法“It's tires need to be changed”对呢,还是第二种说法“Its tires need to be changed”对呢?

So, here we have "it's" and here we just have "its".

一个是“it‘s”,一个是“its”。

So, which is correct?

那哪个是正确的呢?

All right?

时间到。

Got it?

有答案了吗?

So, it is...this one, without the apostrophe,

正确答案是……这个,没有撇号的,

and this one is wrong because this "it's" is short for what?

这个则是错的,因为这个“It's”是什么的缩写?

Short for: "It is tires need to be changed." No.

是“It is tires need to be changed.”的缩写。所以是不对的。

We want to use the possessive form of "it", which is "its" with no apostrophe.

我们要用的是“it”的所有格形式,是没有撇号的“its”。

This is different from lots of other words, okay?

它和很多其他的词都不一样,大家记住了哈。

So: "Its tires need to be changed."

所以:正确答案是“Its tires need to be changed.”

So, this is an example of a homophone.

看见没,这也是一个同音字的例子。

These are words which...Words which sound the same, but their meaning and their spelling is often different.

听起来都一样,但是它们的意思和拼写通常都是不一样的。

All right. There are many of these, and these can cause a lot of confusion,

嗯。类似的同音字还有很多,它们都很容易让人混淆,

and they are responsible for lots of mistakes in writing.

写作中的许多错误都属于这一类错误。

Okay. The next one is an example of word choice; incorrect word choice.

好的,我们接着讲。下面这个例子是关于用词的;也就是用词不正确。

For example: "We won the other team" or "We beat the other team"?

比如:是应该说“We won the other team”,还是应该说“We beat the other team”呢?

Which is it?

选哪个?

Okay? You got it?

时间到,选出来了吗?

Okay, I'm going to write the answer now. Ready?

好的,我现在要公布答案了。大家准备好了吗?

"We...We beat the other team", not: "We won the other team".

答案是“We...We beat the other team”,而不是“We won the other team”。

All right?

知道了吗?

Although people might say that, but that's not right.

虽然大家也会说“We won the other team”,但这是不对的。

So, you beat the other side, the other player, your opponent, and so on;

也就是说,“beat”后面跟的是对方,是另一个参赛选手,是你的对手等;

but you win the game, you win the championship, okay?

“win”后面跟的是game(游戏),或者championship(冠军荣誉)等等。

That's how you...You win the match.

这就是你……还可以跟match(竞赛)。

All right?

大家明白了吗?

So, "win" is used with the game, or the match, or the championship; and you beat the other side.

“win”后面跟game、跟match,跟championship;beat后面跟参赛的对方。

So, there, it's an example of you had to choose the right word, okay?

看到了吧?这就是选用正确的用词的一个例子。

And you have to know that's more of a vocabulary issue.

所以,你得知道,这种问题它更多的是词汇问题。

All right.

好的。

Number eight, we're talking about the correct word form.

第8个例子,这个例子我们要讨论的是正确的词形。

So, you know, like every word, there is a family, right?

大家都知道的,每个词都有很多亲戚。

Every word has a family; there's a noun, there's a verb, there's an adjective, there's an adverb usually, and sometimes people use the wrong one.

都有一个大家庭:有对应的名词,对应的动词,对应的形容词,还有对应的副词,有时大家就会用错。

So, let's figure out if you can get this one right.

下面,我们就来看看这道题大家能否选对。

Number eight: "Can you advise me?", "Can you advice me?"

第8个:是应该用“Can you advise me?”呢,还是应该用“Can you advice me?”呢?

or "Can you advices me?"

又或者是“Can you advices me?”

Which of those is correct?

哪个是正确的?

Now you had a choice of three.

这道题就是三选一了。

Okay. So, it should be: "Can you advise me?"

嗯,正确答案应该是“Can you advise me?”。

Not "advice" and definitely not "advices".

不是“advice”,“advices”就更不是了。

3

Why did I say: "definitely not 'advices'"?

为什么说“advices”就更不是了?

Because this word is just wrong; it doesn't exist.

因为这个词本身就是错的;根本就没有这个词。

All right?

明白了吗?

It's not part of the family.

它根本就不是这个家庭的一部分。

It is...It doesn't exist.

它……它根本就不存在。

This is just a mistake that people make.

它就是大家无中生有的一个错词。

That is not the plural of "advice".

它可不是“advice”的复数形式噢。

This is the noun: "advice", and even...You can't make it plural by adding "s"; it's a non-count noun.

“advice”是名词,而且……我们是不能通过加“s”把它变成复数的;因为它是一个不可数名词。

So, here we wanted to use the verb, so the verb is "advise".

这里我们要用的是动词,是动词“advise”。

I know it's written with an "s", but it's pronounced with a "z" sound.

我知道拼写用的“s”,但它的发音是“z”。

"Can you advise me?" Good.

是“Can you advise me?”,好的。

Next, so this one is just confusing words, confusing grammar-okay?-let's call it.

我们接着往下看,这个例句,我们姑且就称它为“混淆性词,混淆性语法”类错误吧。

"It's so a beautiful day" or "It's such a beautiful day"?

是应该说“It's so a beautiful day”呢,还是“It's such a beautiful day”呢?

What's right there?

哪种说法是正确的?

It should be: "such a beautiful day",

正确答案应该是:“such a beautiful day”,

because after "such", we're looking for a noun or we're looking for a noun phrase, okay?

因为“such”后面要跟名词或者名词短语,对吧?

And after "so", we're usually looking for an adjective or an adverb.

“so”之后跟的则是形容词或副词。

So, we could say: "It's so beautiful today" or "It's such a beautiful day", okay?

所以,我们可以说“It's so beautiful today”,或者说“It's such a beautiful day”,明白了吗?

Again, each of these points you have to master.

我重复一遍,这些知识点大家一定要掌握。

I'll talk to you about that in a second.

我们等下再接着说这个问题。

And the last one is just expressions that we use.

最后一个是短语的使用。

So, which of these expressions is correct: "Good evening. How are you?" or "Good night. How are you?"

举个例子,下面哪个表达是正确的,是“Good evening. How are you?”呢,还是“Good night. How are you?”呢?

So, is there a difference between saying: "Good evening" and "Good night"?

也就是说,“Good evening”和“Good night”有没有区别?

In some languages, I believe it's not; there's no difference, but in English, there is a difference.

在有些语言里,我觉得,这两个短语是没有区别的,但在英语里是有的。

So, which is correct here?

那哪个是正确的呢?

Got it?

有答案了吗?

Okay. We should say: "Good evening. Good evening. How are you?" Okay?

也就是说,我们应该说:“Good evening”,完整的说法就是“Good evening. How are you?”大家记住了吗?

Because: "Good evening" is a greeting when we meet somebody.

因为“Good evening”是我们跟某人见面时的问候语。

And we can use it.

我们就可以这么用。

We can say: "Good morning. How are you?", "Good afternoon. How are you?", "Good evening. How are you?"

我们可以说“Good morning. How are you?”,“Good afternoon. How are you?”,也可以说“Good evening. How are you?”。

But: "Good night" is only said when you're leaving and you're going away.

但是,“Good night”只在我们要离开的时候才用。

So, you're not going to say: "Good night", and then say to somebody: "How are you?"

所以,我们不会说完“Good night”之后接着又说:“How are you?”,

because it's, like, the end of the conversation.

因为“Good night”就像对话的结束语一样。

You can say: "Bye. Okay. See you tomorrow. Good night."

你可以说:“Bye. Okay. See you tomorrow. Good night.”

And you're not talking anymore; you're just going away after that.

说完“Good night”你就不会再说话了,就直接走了。

All right?

明白了吧?

So, there's nothing else.

也就是没有下文了。

But: "Good evening" is when you arrive, and you say: "Good evening, everyone. How are you?" Okay?

但“Good evening”是你刚到某个地方时说的话,比如,“Good evening, everyone. How are you?”,好吗?

And now you're going to start the evening; and here, you're ending it, so there's nothing more to say.

说完,就开始进行当晚的活动了;而这个句子是结束了一个对话,就没有下文了。

But, again, that's something you have to learn.

不过,重申一遍,这些用法也是要经过学习才能掌握的。

And why is it important?

那为什么要掌握这些用法呢?他们为什么重要呢?

Because, here, we've talked about just 10 kinds of errors,

因为,这里我们只讨论了10种错误,

but actually there are many kinds of errors,

其实除了这些错误,还有很多很多种错误,

and in my course we cover more than 100 of them, and the most important thing is we cover them only one by one.

我的这门课一共讲了100多种,最重要的是,我们是逐个逐个讲的。

Here, in case you didn't get them all immediately,

为了以防大家不能一次性把它们掌握全,

it's because we did a lot in one time, and I understand that.

因为我们这节课一连讲了好个多,就算大家掌握不了我也理解。

And maybe you understood them right now, but the question is: Will you remember them tomorrow?

大家可能这会儿是听明白了,但问题是,明天你还记得住吗?

So, by doing...By focusing on just one at a time, you can master it,

所以,通过做…通过一次集中学一个,大家是可以把它们都掌握的,

and then you can review it at the end of the week, at the end of the month, at the end of the course, and so on.

然后分别在周末,月末,课程结束时等节点加以复习巩固。

Also, I've particularly chosen those errors that are the most common, that are the most embarrassing, that will lead to misunderstanding -

另外,我特意选了最常见,最令人尴尬,最容易引起误解的错误用法——

so if you use one word instead of the other, people might misunderstand, they might get confused.

就是你用了这个词而不是那个词,人们就可能产生误解或困惑的那种用法,

"What does he...? What does he mean? What is she saying?"

就会觉得“他说的是啥?他啥意思啊?她在说什么?”

So those are the kinds of errors that I've chosen, and also these are the most serious errors, okay?

这就是我选出来讲解的错误类型,也是最严重的错误类型,大家明白了吗?

They make you look bad, or they make you get lower grades and things like that.

这类错误会让你很难堪,让你拿到很低的分数,诸如此类……

So, by focusing on them and by mastering them once and for all, then you're done; you've got it.

通过集中学习,通过一次性掌握牢靠,只需要怎么做,大家就可以把它们全部掌握,

And your English will have improved so much,

你的英语也会出现明显的提升,

because little by little, you corrected all the different types of errors that really matter, okay?

因为你是一点一点地纠正了各种类型的重大错误,好吗?
