This is Everyday Grammar. I'm Kaveh.
这里是《每日语法》节目。我是卡韦赫。
And I'm Lucija. Today we're talking about disagreements in everyday conversation.
我是露茜佳。今天我们要讨论日常对话中的分歧。
But, we should talk about phrasal verbs!
但是我们应该讲讲短语动词!
There you go again, always disagreeing with me.
你又来了,总是和我意见不一致。
In our conversation, Kaveh used the word 'but' as a conjunction.
在我们的对话中,卡韦赫将but这个单词作为一个连词来使用。
It appeared at the beginning of the sentence and indicated disagreement.
它出现在句子的开头,表示不同意。
This is the usual use of 'but' in everyday conversation.
这是but这个单词在日常对话中的常用用法。
Starting a sentence with 'but' indicates a disagreement is stronger and more forceful than usual.
用but开头的句子,表示一种比平时更强烈、更有力的异议。
Here is another example of the usual use of 'but'.
下面是but的这种常用用法的另外一个例子。
Hey! Nice scarf. I really like it.
嗨!这围巾真好看。我很喜欢它。
But you told me last week you didn't like it.
但是你上周跟我说,你不喜欢这条围巾。
As you can see, I disagreed with Kaveh.
正如你所看到的,我不同意卡韦赫的观点。
When I use the word 'but', it shows that I have strong feelings about the scarf.
我用but这个单词,表示我对这条围巾有很强烈的感情。
I hope this makes sense, because there are other ways to use 'but'.
我希望讲明白了,因为but还有其他用法。
You can start a sentence with an agreeable word, like 'yeah', to reduce the force of your statement.
你可以用一个表赞同的词来开启一个句子,比如“yeah”,以此来降低你陈述的力度。
This way of disagreeing sounds softer and sets a more relaxed tone.
这种表达不同意的方式,听起来更柔和一些,从而奠定了一个更轻松的基调。
Let's demonstrate that again.
我们再演示一次。
Hey! Nice scarf. I really like it.
嗨!这围巾真好看。我很喜欢它。
Yeah, but you told me last week you didn't like it.
是吧,不过你上周跟我说,你不喜欢这条围巾。
That sounded much softer. Here's another example.
这听起来就柔和多了。再看一个例子。
Should we go out to eat?
我们出去吃饭吧?
Yeah, but I don't know if I have enough money. I didn't get paid yet.
恩,不过我不知道我的钱够不够。我的工资还没到手呢。
Social customs and grammar play a role in deciding when and how to use 'but'.
社会习俗和语法在决定什么时候以及如何使用but上发挥了作用。
But don't be nervous, you'll learn with practice!
但是不要紧张,通过练习你就会掌握了。
And that's Everyday Grammar.
以上就是今天的《每日语法》。
