On Saturday,some friends and I rode bikes,

we cruised along the Potomac River for hours.

It was fun.

But then I made a mistake.

I took a photo while riding.

And, I crashed and fell.

You just heard me use two kinds of verbs to talk about my bike adventure:

"Transitive" and "intransitive".
及物动词和不及物动词。
Today I'm going to talk about "transitive".
今天我要讲的是及物动词。
The word "transitive" sounds difficult, but it's really simple.
“及物动词”这个词听起来很难，实际上很简单。
Transitive verbs expressed actions.
及物动词表示动作。
After a transitive verb,
在及物动词之后，
you will find the person or thing that receives the action of the verb.
你会发现接收动词动作的人或物。
For example, I told you “some friends and I rode bikes”.
例如，我告诉你“一些朋友和我骑自行车”。
Here. "Ride" is the transitive verb
在这里。“骑”是及物动词
and "bikes" is the thing receiving the verbs action.
“自行车”是接收动词动作的东西。
And, we call that person or thing receiving the action, a direct object.
我们称接收动作的人或物为直接宾语。
So, "bikes" is the direct object.
所以，“自行车”是直接宾语。
Let's look at a few other verbs I used,
让我们看看我用过的其他几个动词，
and I'll show you what I mean.
我会告诉你我说的是什么意思。
I made a mistake.
我犯了一个错误。
Here, "make" is the transitive verb and "a mistake" is the direct object.
这里，“犯”是及物动词，“一个错误”是直接宾语。
I took a photo while riding.
我在骑车的时候拍了一张照片。
Here, "take" is the transitive verb and "a photo" is the direct object.
这里，“拍”是及物动词，“一张照片”是直接宾语。
An easy way to identify transitive verbs is to ask
辨别及物动词的一个简单的方法是看看
whether they answer the question "Who?" or "What?".
他们回答了“谁？”和“什么？”这两个问题中的哪一个。
I took what? I took a photo!
我拍了什么？我拍了一张照片。
