Chinese auto manufacturer BYD says it ceased the production of traditional gasoline-powered vehicles in March.

The company says its auto business will focus on pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in the future.

BYD also says it'll continue to offer owners of its traditional gasoline-powered vehicles services and after-sales support, as well as spare parts.

Last month, the company sold more than 100,000 passenger cars,

I think it's a very clear positive message.

I think it's probably not just sending a message to the market, it's probably a message that BYD tuned in to the market.

I think BYD has responded very very quickly, and again showed that they're market-oriented, and they are really ahead of the game.

So then how do you expect this move to phase out fossil-fuel cars to impact consumers?

I think it will be a jolt in the right direction. I think consumers will sit up and take notice.
