According to Jiangxi Province, Hu disappeared from his school on October 14, 2022, and his highly decomposed body was discovered by a grain depot employee on Saturday.

Hu's suicidal intent was confirmed after police accessed two files on the recorder, both were recorded on the day of his disappearance, one at 6 P.M., the other at 11 P.M.

Police noted that there was no sign the recordings were tampered with.
