Surfing is a popular sport all over the world.

And many surfers travel far distances to find the perfect wave.

Doctor Dave Jenkins is one of these surfers.

He loved to travel around the world to find good places to surf.

In 1999, he travelled to the Mentawai Islands in Indonesia.

There, he became concerned.

The people living on the islands were not healthy.

Doctor Jenkins decided to do something about this problem.

Like many surfers, Doctor Jenkins enjoyed surfing in Indonesia.

There were very few other surfers.

But he worried about the health of the people living there.
