Taylor Swift fans in Rio de Janeiro waited in line in extreme heat to see the pop superstar perform on Saturday.

But her show was postponed due to the scorching heat, a day after the death of a fan who fell ill in the sweltering concert venue.

Swift notified her fans of the postponed show in an Instagram post about two hours before she was to go on stage, saying:

23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides became unwell during Friday's show, according to event organizers.

She died later at the hospital. Rio's state health service said her cause of death was not yet known and will be investigated.

Fan Lara Ita said Swift interrupted her performance to give water to the audience
