My father teaches physics.
英语中的动词有时态的问题，不同的时间要用不同的时态来表示，动词的最简单形式是一般现在时；动词的一般现在时一般是由动词原型来表示，如go，like；但在主语是第三人称单数时动词要加词尾s或者es。例如：
My mother works in a nursery. 我母亲在一家托儿所工作。
My father teaches physics. 我父亲教物理。
She teaches children to sing and speak clearly. 她教孩子们唱歌说话要口齿清楚。
teach —— teaches
不定式结构to sing and speak在句子中作宾语children的补语。
I am eighteen, my brother is eleven, and my sister is seven. 我十八岁，弟弟十一岁，妹妹七岁。
eighteen，eleven，seven等数词表示年龄，更正式的说法是在数词后加years old。例如：eighteen years old 十八岁
My brother and my sister go to school.
go to school 上学
My home is in Shanghai.
I am in my first year at college.
介词的使用：
英语中介词的使用比较灵活，虽然有一定的规则，如“在……城市”要用介词in，但在很大程度上介词的使用是约定俗成的。例如：
My home is in Shanghai. 我的家在上海。
My mother works in a nursery. 我母亲在一家托儿所工作。
I am in my first year at college. 我上大学一年级。
I like my subject and I work very hard. 我喜欢自己的专业，学习非常用功。

work的意思是“学习”，可以用study来替换；very hard是状语，修饰动词work，但位置不能在动词前。
Have的用法：
have dictation 听写（have是“做……事情”）
have还可作“有……”解，和be动词一样也有人称变化，第三人称单数he, she, it后面用has，其他情况都用have。例如：
I have a brother. 我有一个兄弟。
You have a red pencil. 你有一支红铅笔。
They have maps. 他们有地图。
She has a dog. 她有一条狗。
疑问句中have和has要放在句首，另外常常有any伴随，回答时要用yes或no。例如：
Have you any brothers? 你有兄弟吗？
Has she any sisters？ 她有姐妹吗？
have 和has的否定式是在后面加not，缩略形式分别是haven’t和hasn’t，而且常常与any伴随使用。例如：
She has three sisters, but she has no brother. / She has three sisters, but she hasn’t any brothers. 她有三个姐妹，没有兄弟。
