Chinese, Mexican presidents meet on bilateral ties

Chinese President Hu Jintao has met with his Mexican counterpart Felipe Calderon in the Mexican resort city of LOS CABOS.
President Hu said links between the two countries have entered a new stage of mature, steady and extensive growth since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1972.
The Chinese President is in Los Cabos to attend the seventh summit of the G20 which will be held on Monday and Tuesday.
Shenzhou-9 made first planned change in its orbit

The Shenzhou-9 spacecraft has made the first planned change in its orbit en route to docking with the Tiangong-1 orbiting module.
It's reported that the spacecraft - carrying the country's female astronaut and her two male colleagues - completed the first of five planned changes in its orbit yesterday.
The capsule is to complete an automatic docking with the Tiangong-1 orbiting module on Monday.
Two astronauts will transfer in Tiangong-1 for four days to test its life-support systems. The other astronaut will remain in the Shenzou-9 as back up.
Afterwards, they will conduct a manual docking.
China's manned submersible postpones second deep sea dive

China's manned deep-sea submersible, Jiaolong, has canceled its second dive mission due to an overhaul of the vessel's hydraulic system.
It was scheduled to dive into the Mariana Trench on Monday morning.
If weather and sea conditions are appropriate, Jiaolong will attempt the second dive on Tuesday.
During its first dive last Friday, the vessel set a new national record by reaching a depth of nearly 6,700 meters below the ocean.
Jiaolong plans to attempt six dives to challenge the depth of 7,000 meters. The mission has been disrupted on several occasions by tropical storm "Guchao".
Egypt's military council issues supplementary constitutional declaration

Egypt's ruling military council has issued a supplementary constitutional declaration to reclaim legislative powers after the parliament was dissolved several days ago.
According to the document, the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces will exercise legislative powers until a new parliament is elected.
The Supreme Council will also form a new panel charged with drafting a new constitution within three months.
The issuing of the declaration was announced as polls closed in the presidential run-off between Muslim Brotherhood 's Mohamed Morsi and the former premier Ahmed Shafiq.
Ballot counting is underway across the country.
New Democracy beats Syriza in Greek election: interior ministry

The pro-bailout New Democracy party is the likely winner of the Greek general election.
With over 70 percent of the votes counted, the pro-Euro New Democracy have garnered just over 30 percent of votes cast. The radical-left, anti-austerity Syriza Party stand at 26.5 percent with New Democracy ally PASOK third on 12.6 percent.
New Democracy leader Antonis Samaras has called for the formation of a "national salvation government". However,Syriza's controversial young leader Alexis Tsipras has already ruled out a coalition with New Democracy and days of cross-party horse-trading now appear likely.
The Greek elections are viewed by many governments and money markets as crucial for deciding the future of the country in the Eurozone.
Socialists win overall majority in French parliament

The Socialist Party of French President Francois Hollande has won an overall majority in parliamentary elections.
Projections suggest that the party and its allies have won 320 seats out of the 577 seats in the French National Assembly. The result means that Hollande is unlikely to require the support of the Greens or the far left parties to get through his promised tax-and-spend programme.
The Socialist Party leader, Martine Aubry, hailed the expected result as an endorsement of recently-elected Socialist President Francois Hollande's policies.
Hollande has also promised to refocus France's EU fiscal agenda and curb austerity. Some of his more controversial proposals include the hiring of 60,000 new teachers and the introduction of a 50 percent income tax on the mega-rich.
It is expected to be the Socialists' best election result in modern French history.
36 dead in multiple attacks on Nigerian churches

At least 36 people have been killed and many others seriously injured as a result of multiple bomb attacks on Christian churches across northwest Nigeria's Kaduna State.
16 people were reportedly killed in the blasts and another 20 were in the subsequent rioting that apparently targeted Muslims.
Security officials are not ruling out the possibility of a higher number of casualties.
The Kaduna State government has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in an attempt to curtail the violence.
Head of UN mission calls on fighting parties in Syria to ease people's pain

Head of the UN observation mission to Syria is calling on all parties in the Syrian conflict to reconsider their positions and to take immediate actions to ease the pain of Syrian people.
Robert Mood stressed that all parties in Syria "must allow women, children, the elderly and the injured to leave conflict zones, without any preconditions and ensure their safety."
Earlier, Mood announced that he has decided to suspend the patrols of his 300-member team, citing spiraling violence in restive areas.
The observers have been deployed in Syria since April.
