Japan buying Diaoyu Island not tolerable: Chinese military

China says it will not permit Japan to purchase the Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin said at a regular press conference that China cannot allow anyone to buy or sell its sacred territory.
The statement came in response to a Saturday statement by Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda in which he indicated that the Japanese government is considering buying the Diaoyu Islands.
Meanwhile, Chinese military warns that Japan's move is going to elevate tensions between the two countries.
China urges Syria towards a political resolution

The Chinese government has put out a call for all sides in the Syrian conflict to work with Kofi Annan.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Liu Weimin.
"China believes the pressing task now is for all parties concerned to continue to co-operate with envoy Annan's mediation efforts, urge the Syrian government and the opposition groups to quickly implement the U.N. Security Council resolutions and implement Annan's six point proposal, and promote the implementation of the communiqué by the foreign ministerial meeting of the Syria problem action group."  
At the same time, the Foreign Ministry says China will not support outside intervention in Syria.
Kofi Annan in Tehran for Syria crisis

UN and Arab League Joint Envoy Kofi Annan is now in Tehran to discuss the Syria crisis.
"As you know, we had an action group meeting in Geneva at the end of last month and I am here also to discuss the outcome of those deliberations and to see how we can work together to help settle the situation in Syria. Thank you."
Annan's visit to Iran comes on the heels of Sunday's talks with the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Annan says he has concluded an "approach" with President Assad to end the violence.
However, he did not offer up details.
Egyptian parliament set to defy military council

The military council in Egypt has stated that the decision to dissolve parliament must be upheld.
Earlier Monday, Egypt's Supreme Court rejected the order of newly elected President Mohamed Mursi to reconvene the assembly.
Parliament was dissolved by the military council last month. Many in Mursi's party, the Muslim Brotherhood, believe that the military acted unlawfully by dissolving parliament and granting itself new powers.
The Muslim Brotherhood holds most of the seats in the assembly.
Parliament is scheduled to meet in Cairo Tuesday morning, in direct defiance of the military's decision.
Chinese FM arrives in Cambodia for ASEAN meetings

The Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi is in Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh to attend a series of ASEAN ministerial level meetings.
From Tuesday to Thursday, the minister is set to participate in the 13th ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers' Meeting and the ASEAN-China Ministerial Meeting.
He will also attend the East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers' Meeting and the 19th ASEAN Regional Forum.
Yang Jiechi is expected to exchange views with his counterparts on East Asian regional cooperation, as well as broader global issues.
He is also scheduled to meet with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Rainstorms cause 65 deaths in China

Rainstorms have killed 65 people and left 30 others missing in eight provincial regions since the end of last month.
The Ministry of Civil Affairs say the downpours have triggered floods and landslides that have affected 17.5 million people. 1.2 million have been evacuated.
The ministry has sent three teams of experts and officials to aid in relief work in affected regions. They have also shipped tents and bedding to hard-hit Sichuan.
In another report, the ministry claims 465 people were killed and 97 are missing due to natural disasters in the first half of this year.
Spain borrowing rate hits bailout danger zone

The interest rate, or yield, on Spain's 10-year bonds has hit 7 percent;
The high level of borrowing is considered unaffordable for the country in the long term.
Spain's struggling banks will be the main subject of discussions at Europe's finance ministers' meetings this week.
The 17 country-bloc is due to discuss the terms of a ?100 billion or $124 billion bailout loan for Spain's banking industry.
Investors fear a full-blown bailout of Spanish will be too large for the eurozone to handle.
The country's economy is the fourth largest among the 17 Eurozone nations.
Mercedes Cup begins from Germany

In tennis,the Mercedes Cup is ongoing in Stuttgart, Germany. Dustin Brown of Germany saved a match point to upset sixth-seeded Russian Nikolay Davydenko in the first round on Monday.
Another upset saw two seed Eduardo Schwank ousted in the first round after losing to Martin Fischer. One seed Igor Andreev eased past five seed Robert Farah.
Also Monday, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez got past fellow Spaniard Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo in straight sets.
