Heavy rain has been lashing coastal areas of east China's Zhejiang Province as tropical storm Fung-Wong is approaching.
Nearly 160 thousand people have been forced to evacuate their homes in Ningbo, Wenzhou and Taizhou.
The typhoon is expected to land in the Chinese mainland later on today.
Wenzhou City has demanded kindergartens, primary and middle schools suspend classes today.
Fung-Wong hit Taiwan on Sunday, forcing the cancellation of dozens of flights and ferry services too.
It has killed at least ten people in the northern parts of the Philippines.
At least two people have been killed as multiple explosions are reported in Luntai County of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Dozens of others have been injured.
The blasts came after local authorities in Xinjiang listed seventeen officials and police officers who received penalties for not adequately doing their duty.
In July, a terror attack in Shache County left 37 civilians dead and 94 others injured.
A 74-year-old religious leader was also murdered following that attack.
