Sun shows that patience pays off
孙杨亚运会成就“金满贯”
Life is often a matter of waiting for the right moment to act.
人生往往都需要等待正确的时刻来做出行动。
For champion swimmer Sun Yang, the first Chinese man to win an Olympic gold medal in swimming, that moment came last month, when he finally won the men's 200-meter freestyle event at the Asian Games.
对于中国男子首位奥运游泳冠军孙杨而言，上个月他就迎来了这样的时刻，最终获得了亚运会男子200米自由泳冠军。
Aug 19 saw the three-time Olympic champion’s patience and persistence pay off, as he claimed victory in the event at the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia. This means that Sun has accomplished a Golden Grand Slam, having won the 200, 400, and 1,500-meter freestyle events at the Asian Games, World Championships and Olympic Games.
8月19日，这位奥运三冠王的耐心与毅力终于获得了回报，在第18届雅加达亚运会上夺冠。这也意味着孙杨成就“金满贯”——获得了亚运会、世锦赛和奥运会男子200米、400米、1500米自由泳项目的全部金牌。
"From Guangzhou 2010 until now, I have been waiting for this gold medal in the 200-meter freestyle at the Asian Games," the 26-year-old swimmer told Xinhua News Agency. "Not many swimmers could have waited for eight years over three Asian Games like me. My dream has finally come true."
“从广州到仁川，这块金牌我等了8年，”这位26岁的游泳运动员在接受新华社采访时表示。“很多运动员职业生涯都没有8年。对于我来说，圆了200米的亚运会梦，全满贯完成了！”
While Sun stood on a podium listening to the Chinese national anthem along with the silver and bronze medal winners, a technical malfunction caused the medalists' flags to drop to the ground. Sun hopped off the podium, walked over to the officials and demanded that they raise the flags again. In the end, the officials held the flags up themselves as China's national anthem played a second time.
当孙杨和亚军、季军一同站在领奖台上，中国国歌奏响之时，现场的一起技术故障让获奖选手的国旗都掉落到了地上。孙杨走下领奖台，和组委会官员进行交涉，要求再升一次国旗。最后，现场工作人员重新举行升旗仪式，再次奏响中国国歌。
Many Chinese internet users called Sun's response to the incident an act of patriotism. "It is great to win the championship, but seeing our national flag go up again is also very important," Chinese news portal Eastday noted. "Winning the title is an achievement that will be remembered, but raising the flag again is a matter of importance."
不少中国网友都表示孙杨应对这一事件的举动体现了爱国的赤子之心。“夺冠重要，而重新升起国旗同样重要，”中国新闻门户网站东方网指出。“夺冠已经形成了事实被人们记住，而重新升起国旗（却是一瞬间的事）更是至关重要。”
