Fifty-two people have been sent to hospitals in Quanzhou in eastern China's Fujian province after a chemical leak was reported at a port. The leak occurred while chemicals were being loaded to a ship docked at the port last Saturday. A tube broke during the process leaking about seven tons of C9 aromatics in the water. Now C9 is a type of hydrocarbon resin chemically manufactured from oil and is toxic to humans. Authorities say that the cleanup work is underway and those who are responsible for the incident will be punished.
