The United States State Department says it welcomes news of the conditional ceasefire in Syria's northwestern region, the last rebel stronghold in the country, and urges an end to attacks on civilians. It adds that the US will support the work of UN Special Envoy, gear Patterson and the United Nations to advance a Syrian-led and Syrian-owned political process. That would create a permanent peaceful end to the conflict. As strikes on Utley province halted on Friday after the Syrian government agreed to a truce on the condition that rebel backer Turkey implements a buffer zone in the area.
