Melbourne's coronavirus restrictions will start being eased from midnight tomorrow. Retail shops, cafes, restaurants and bars will reopen, subject to COVID safety rules. Beauty and tattooing services will also reopen with mask-wearing. More than two households can gather outdoors, but there will still be a limit of 10 people not including babies under 1. And Melbourne residents no longer need a reason to leave their home.
A Northern Territory police officer has been committed to stand trial for murder voer the shooting death of a teenager in a remote community last year. Constable Zachary Rolfe was charged with murder after the teen was shot dead during an arrest attempt. The matter will return to court on the 25th of November when a trial date will be determined.
Australia's foreign minister says she'll wait for a report about the treatment of female passengers at Doha's airport before taking further action. Thirteen Australians were among the women subjected to an internal examination after a newborn baby was found in one of the airport's bathrooms earlier this month. Senator Marise Payne says she's expecting a report from Qatari authorities in the next week.
And British navy commandos have seized a tanker off the south coast of England, after a group of stowaways threatened the crew. Seven suspects have been detained over the suspected hijacking. UK special forces completed the operation in just nine minutes.
