When we talk about means of transport, the prepositions we use depend on whether we are speaking generally or specifically.
当我们谈论交通工具时，使用的介词取决于是泛指还是特指。
When you are talking about general ways to travel, use the preposition "by."
当你谈论旅行的一般方式时，用介词by。
For example, you can travel by train, by car, by bus, by truck, by plane, by motorcycle, by helicopter or by boat.
例如，你可以乘火车、汽车、公交车、卡车、飞机、摩托车、直升机或轮船旅行。
When you say, "I travel by train," it means you usually or always take the train as your means of transport.
当你说，“我乘火车旅行”，意思是你通常或总是以火车作为你的交通工具。
A more common verb when speaking of transport is "go."
在谈到交通工具时，一个更常见的动词是go。
For example, you can say, "I go by train."
例如，你可以说，“我坐火车去。”
There is one exception to using the preposition "by."
有一个不用介词by的例外。
When speaking generally about walking as your means of transport, use "on."
当泛指步行作为你的交通工具时，使用on。
It is more common to say, "I travel on foot," for example, than "I travel by foot."
比方说，I travel on foot比I travel by foot（我徒步旅行）更常见。
But note that we do not use "with" for any means of transport.
但请注意，任何交通工具都不用with。
Now let's discuss specifics.

When you are talking about a specific instance of taking or using transport, use "on" or "in."
当你谈论乘坐或使用交通工具的特定情况时，使用on或in。
For trains, buses, boats and planes, use "on."
对于火车、公共汽车、轮船和飞机，使用on。
You might say, for example, "I'm on the plane now. I have to turn off my phone."

For trucks, cars and helicopters, use "in."
对于卡车、轿车和直升机，请使用in。
You can say, "I'm in a taxi," for example.

A simple way to remember whether to use "on" or "in" is this:
区分使用on还是in的一个简单方法是：
If you can stand up or walk inside the vehicle, use "on."
如果你能在车里站起来或行走，就用on。
If you can only sit in the vehicle, use "in."
如果你只能坐在车里，就用in。
You cannot stand inside of a car, for example.
例如，你不能站在汽车内。
Here is another way to remember: For private transport, such as cars and trucks, use "in."
还有一种帮助记忆的方法：对于私人交通工具，如小汽车和卡车，使用in。
For public transport, such as trains, buses and planes, use "on."
