BBC新闻:记录中国:流亡者的抗议
Hundreds of Tibetan exiles are due to set out a six-month march today from India to Tibet to protest against Chinese rule in the Himalayan region. The return march as they are calling it will begin from the India town of Dharamsala with a speech by their leader, the Dalai Lama commemorating a failed uprising.Chris Morris is there.
"The groups taking part in this march say they represent tens of thousands of Tibetan exiles. They want to draw attention to what they see is Chinese suppression of Tibetan identity. They plan(they say)to try to cross the border into Tibet from India, but they are not saying where or when their attempt to take place.Tibetan exile groups are determined to use the attention focused on China in the run-up to the Olympics to publicize their cause. Some of them are notably more radical than their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama.He said he no longer advocates independence for Tibet. He doesn't support boycott of the Olympics."
