China Vows to Improve Work Safety
China has pledged to improve work safety after several deadly accidents happened last month.
Zhao Tiechui, deputy director of the State Administration of Work Safety, says the central authority has demanded more inspections to secure production safety.
"Several serious accidents in production broke out in such a short period of time, at various sectors and areas. The central committee of the party and the state council have highlighted work safety. They demand us to reinforce efforts and cooperate with local authorities on safety inspections to improve the overall situation of safe production. "
He also says more efforts should be exerted to crack down on unlicensed production.
The move came after several accidents happened in the country in September.
Early last month, nearly 270 people were killed in a landslide due to the burst of an unlicensed iron ore tailings in north China's Shanxi Province.
And a nightclub fire in south China's Shenzhen city in mid-September left 43 people dead and many more injured.
