Proper：当否？
在葬礼（funeral）上神情严肃（look grave)，是proper behavior（合适的行为）；在婚礼（wedding ceremony）上哭泣(sob, cry, weep)，如同发言中跟领导作对（contradict a leader），都是improper behavior(不得体的行为)。
可能不那么容易看出，appropriate是穿马甲版的proper：把两个词中间对齐看一下会有发现相似之处（similarity）。
在婚礼上讲笑话（tell jokes）是appropriate behavior，在葬礼上搞笑（be funny）是inappropriate behavior。
还有一个长得像的可能纯属巧合(by sheer accident): property，主要意思之一为“财产”。
比如中国人总是说（tend to say)公有财产神圣不可侵犯，我们可能有此一问：
Is it proper only to say that public property is sacred? Then how about private property?
光说公有财产神圣不可侵犯，这合适吗？那私有财产又当如何？
在改革开放几十年后的今天（decades after the beginning of the reform and opening policy)，这一问不但是合理的（rational, reasonable)，而且是相当急迫的（rather urgent)。
Technology：科技
时下最时髦（fashionable)的行当(trade, profession, occupation, job)之一，是IT业，information technology(信息技术）之谓也。
邓小平爷爷曾教导我们：Science and Technology is the first productivity.(科学技术是第一生产力)。
于是（in response, accordingly, consequently, as a result, therefore），全国各地（all over the country），一批又一批High-tech enterprises（高科技企业）涌现出来（mushroom, spring up, come out）。
可事实上（in fact, indeed, actually），从技术上讲(technically)，这些所谓的high-tech enterprises技术含量可疑(suspicious)，真的当然也存在(exist)，但为数不少是强装时髦(pretend to be fashionable)。
