2.slacken v．（使）变松，放松

3.impose v．征（税），处以（罚款、监禁等）；把…强加于；利用，占便宜
【记】词根记忆：im(使)+pos(放)+e--强行放置--把…强加于
【例】Regulator has no power to impose fines but can revoke licenses.
交通管制员无权罚款，但有权吊销驾驶执照。
【用】impose常常和介词on或是upon搭配使用，表示“把…强加于…”。
【派】imposing（adj.壮丽的；使人印象深刻的）；imposition[n.强加，（税等的）征收，（惩罚等的）施加]

4.whip n．鞭子 v．用鞭子抽；搅打（奶油、蛋等）
【例】Grandma whipped the cream and butter with a whisk.
奶奶用搅拌器把奶油和黄油搅打成糊状。

5.hustle n．忙碌，奔忙；（推）挤 v．催促，赶紧做；猛推，挤；强迫
【例】hustle and hustle: Many people in the city love the hustle and hustle.
城市中很多人喜欢热闹繁忙。

6.facilitate vt．使容另，使便利；促进
【记】词根记忆：fac(做)+ilit+ate--使事情好做--使容易；促进
【例】The US movie industry says“is launching legal action to sue people who facilitate illegal movie downloading.
美国电影业表示已采取法律手段起诉那些推动电影非法下载的人。

7.unload v．从（某物）上卸下货物
【例】Six giant cranes unload3,000 containers of Christmas goods from a ship said to be the world's largest container vessel.
六台巨型起重机从一艘货船上卸下3000个装有圣诞商品的集装箱，据说这艘货轮是世界上最大的。

8.melancholy n．/adj.忧郁（的），悲伤（的）
