It was a cold and snowy morning after the winter vacation. Actually, it was my first day at my new school.
这是寒假后的一个寒冷的早上，天空还下着雪。实际上，这是我第一天去新学校上课。
I was walking slowly and worrying about lots of things. It was early and there weren't many people on the road.
我走得很慢，担心很多事情。因为是大早上，街上行人稀少。
A girl on a bike passed me quickly.
一个骑着自行车的女孩快速地与我擦肩而过。
She was riding on ice when suddenly she fell off her bike a few steps in front of me.
她骑车经过一块冰面的时候，突然从自行车上摔了下来，就倒在我面前几步。
She was trying hard to get up but fell again.
她努力挣扎着想站起来，但是又摔倒了。
Without thinking, I went over and helped her stand up.
我不假思索地就冲过去把她扶了起来。
She said, "Thank you," with a smile and then rode away.
她笑着对我说道：“谢谢”，然后骑上车继续前行了。
The words "Thank you" warmed me and this small event made me feel less nervous about my new school.
“谢谢”这个词温暖了我的心，而且这件小事使我对新学校没那么紧张了。
Finally, I got to school. The teacher led me to the classroom and asked me to sit down beside a girl.
后来，我来到了学校。老师把我领进班里，然后让我坐在一个女孩的旁边。
I was so nervous. I knew some of the students were looking at me but I didn't dare to look at them.
我实在是太紧张了。我知道好多同学都在看我，但是我却不敢看他们。
Soon the first class started. It was English.
然后，我的第一堂课开始了。这节课是英语课。
They used a different textbook from my old school and I didn't have a copy.
他们使用的教材和我以前学校使用的不是一个教材，而我手里没有这本教材。
As I was wondering what to do, a book appeared in front of me.
正当我不知道该怎么办的时候，一本书出现了在我眼前。
"Let's share," the girl next to me said.
“咱们一起看吧。”坐在我旁边的女孩儿对我说。
"And hi, I'm Carrie." I looked up. It was the girl I helped that morning. What a surprise!
“对了，我叫卡里。”我抬头一看，原来她就是我早上帮助过的那个女孩儿。这实在太巧了！
From then on, we became good friends. She was my first and best friend at my new school.
从那以后，我们成为了好朋友。她是我在新学校认识的第一个朋友，也是最好的朋友。
Helping her also helped me find a friend.
正是因为我帮助了她，我才有了这么一个好朋友。
