1. 用作动词，raise 意为“举起”、“升起”、“增加”、“饲养”等，在现代英语中，只用作及物动词，其后应有宾语或用于被动语态。如：

I can’t raise the box. 我举不起这个箱子。

Her wages were raised. 她涨工资了。

He is a farmer and raises horses. 他是农民, 同时又养马。

2. rise 可用作名词。如：

注：在美国英语中 raise 也可用作名词，主要指工资增加。如：

I’m going to give you a raise [= rise]. 我要给你提工资。
