The increased memory capacity and the ability to program the control computer in CNC provides the opportunity to store frequently use machining cycles in memory that can be called by the part program Instead of writing the instructions for the particular cycle into every program, a code is written into the program to indicate that the cycle should be execute.

Some of these cycles require the definition of certain parameters in order to execute.
