英语中的很多常用介词、代词、连词、助动词、冠词的发音都有分weak and strong forms
在国内学英语时，我们学到的音标是这样的：
The [beautiful] [mountain] [appeared] [transfixed] in the [distance]. (8 words)
He can [come] on [Sundays[ as long as he doesn't have to [do] any [homework] in the [evening]. (18 words)
介词、代词、连词、助动词、冠词都属于function words，在句中一般都不会被做重读处理，因为他们都是跟其他有意义的content words （名词、动词、形容词、副词）连在一起使用的，我们应该做的是重读那些content words。

2. I really must stop smoking.
1. It was raining.
2. Yes, it was .
1. Where have you been?
2. I should have done that.
3. What did you have for breakfast?
1. I am looking at you.
2. What are you looking at?
