Here's an example when two word used together can sound very painful.
下面这个例子中的两个词在一起使用时，听起来很痛苦。
Hey, I saw your friend Anna yesterday.
嘿，我昨天看见你朋友Anna了。
She was telling me about your birthday party. And she said that it was the best party that she had been to all year.
她跟我说了你的生日party。她说这是她今年参加过的最好的party。
Wow, that's why my ears were burning.
哇喔，怪不得昨天我耳朵着火了（ my ears were burning）。
If people say "my ears were burning," it means someone was talking about them, but that they weren't there to hear it.
如果有人说“我的耳朵着火了”，意思是某人正在谈论他/她，而他/她却不在谈话现场。
Imagine a message being sent to you when people are talking about you.
当人们在谈论你时候，想象信息传给了你（使的你耳朵发红发烫像是燃起来一样）。
This comes from Ancient Rome, when people believed "burning ears" and other sensations signaled current or future events.
这是来自古罗马，人们相信“燃烧着的耳朵”和其他一些感觉预示着当前或者未来的一些事情。
If it was in the right ear, the person was praised.
如果某人是右耳朵燃烧，那么这个人是被表扬了。
The left ear meant evil may come.
如果是左耳那么可能会发生不好的事情。
