单身可以怎样表达呢？

I'm single. 我是单身。

"Single dog"是错误的说法，不能这样用。

singleton: 单身（名词）

bachelor: 单身男性，形容条件好但单身; 学士

bachelorette: 单身女性，形容条件好但单身

我们常常把单身和“孤独”、“寂寞”联系在一起。但实际上，很多人其实很享受单身的状态。

02.Intentionally single

有两种单身状态，主动单身和被动单身。

主动单身：

single by choice

intentionally single

intentionally: 有意地

Why?

Love the freedom and simplicity of being single.

喜欢一个人的生活状态，简单自由。

being single: 单身，表达状态用being

Burnt by past relationships, fear of being hurt again.

之前感情遇到挫折，害怕再次受伤害。

burnt: (burn的过去分词形式)，表示“深受伤害”

I got burnt. 我深受伤害。

relationship: 感情关系

Pessimistic about relationships. Breakups are inevitable. Better to never get started.

感情观消极，谈了也会分，不如不谈。

pessimistic: 悲观

inevitable: 必然会发生的

Like that fresh, exciting feeling, enjoy dating different people and keep options open.

喜欢新鲜感，单身可以约会不同的人。

dating: 约会

keep options open: 有很多选择

03.Reluctantly single

被动单身：

single not by choice but by circumstances

reluctantly single

reluctant: 不情愿的

Why?

Limited social circles, lack ways to meet people.

圈子小，缺乏认识人的途径。

social circle: 社交圈子

lack: 缺少

workplace: 工作

High standards for potential partner, unable to meet compatible partner/partner who meets the standards.

择偶要求太高，遇不到合适的人。

择偶条件真的很高吗？

调查中排名前三的选项分别是三观契合度、人品、性格。但学历、经济水平等，则较少被提及。

三观契合度: Are core values compatible?

core: 核心

world view: 世界观

values: 价值观

outlook on life, view on life: 人生观

personal integrity: 个人诚信/操守

personality: 性格

quantify: 可量化

Lack skills to interact with potential partners.

没技巧，不会聊天。

Not confident in/of one's own looks, don't feel attractive enough.

对自己的外表不自信，认为不够吸引人。

looks: 外表

Too busy to date.

太忙了，没时间谈恋爱

too...(adj.) to...(verb): 太...导致...
