Unit 4 Anna's Secret

Anna has been a successful businessperson all of her adult life and is the owner of several profitable companies.Even though she is so successful, Anna has kept a secret from all except her husband. She can't read.

She hides her secret by spending her days pretending to be too busy to take care of things like work contracts and the mail. Tired, she comes home at night and asks her husband to help her sort through the day's paperwork. Not being able to read has made life difficult. Anna knew that for her to be the best she could be, she needed to confront her problem and learn to read.

She told her closest friends and employees that she was illiterate. Fearing she would be ridiculed, she was surprised and comforted when she received nothing but support. Anna found a tutor and began her studies. With hard work and determination, she learned to read.

She recently received an award given to small businesses that have triumphed over adversity. More than just a successful businesswoman, Anna is also a mentor for people who struggle with illiteracy!
