TEXT:Protesters march through Madrid, demonstrating against a new set of austerity measures. The government announced fresh cuts last week to tackle the debt crisis. They include tax hikes and spending cuts aimed at convincing the EU that Spain is serious about recovery. But it's provoked protests by workers fearing they will bear the brunt. A number in Madrid said they were prepared to sleep rough. SOUNDBITE: HEALTH WORKER, ALICIA, SAYING (Spanish): "We plan to sleep outside parliament but because they blocked that road I think we will stay here if they allow us. And if they don't we will move a bit over there or over there and this until tomorrow." Critics say austerity measures will hit civil servants hardest, with wage cuts and job reductions. TEXT:Determined protesters hurled tomatoes and plastic bottles at Hillary Clinton's motorcade in Egypt. They also chanted the name of the woman the U.S. Secretary of State's husband once had an affair with. (Protesters chanting 'Monica Monica') Clinton was in Alexandria for the re-opening of a U.S. consulate --- a move that had infuriated some in Egypt's second most important city. A senior official at the State department said Clinton's vehicle wasn't struck by any of the projectiles. Burning American and Israeli flags outside the consulate's security perimeter, they accused the U.S. of interfering in the country's affairs. TEXT:A helicopter patrols off Western Australia's Wedge Island after a deadly shark attack. The calm waters show no signs of the shark or the man it ripped apart Saturday as search teams try to recover the body. A friend who was surfing with the victim escaped and swam the 40 meters to shore. Another witness, visibly shaken Matt Holmes, described how he tried to help after seeing the attack from his near-by jet ski. (SOUNDBITE) (English) SHARK ATTACK WITNESS, MATT HOLMES SAYING: "A massive, massive white shark circling the body, the half the torso that was left. I reached to grab the body and the shark came at me on the jet ski and tried to knock me off and I did another loop when I came back to get the body the shark took it and there was just blood everywhere and there's nothing I could do." After presiding over the very public celebrations, Hollande fielded questions about simmering tensions between his partner Valerie Trierweiler and his children. France's First Lady ignited a firestorm last month when she weighed in on a political race in the western city of La Rochelle. She tweeted her support for a candidate who happens against the mother of Hollande's children. Asked about his journalist partner's tweet, Hollande had this to say. SOUNDBITE: French President Francois Hollande saying:(French) "There is no statute. Valerie wants to continue with her professional activity, I am not against that. She will be present by my side, as protocol demands." Since the tweet, Hollande's children have cut off contact with the First Lady. SOUNDBITE: French President Francois Hollande saying:(French) "I make a clear distinction between private life and public life and so I consider that private matters should be sorted out in private. I have said this to those close to me so that they scrupulously agree to respect this principle."
