语法用法：~ (for/over sb/sth)

讲解：mourn既可以做及物动词，也可以做不及物动词，把它视为及物动词的话，后面直接跟宾语，视为不及物动词的话，后面可跟介词for或者是over。

词性变化：~ful adj. mournful 悲哀的; 令人悲痛的

~fully adv. Mournfully 悲哀地；令人悲痛地

~ness n. 悲哀，哀悼

典型例句：She mourned (for/over) her dead child for many years.（句中的for或者是over是可以省去的）

1. go into mourning：开始举哀，服丧，戴孝

讲解：go into mourning意思是指开始服丧，含有“开始”的意味在其中，相当于“start to wear mourning”。表示“戴重孝”，在mourning前面加上full即可。

例句：The court will go into mourning for the late king.

皇室将为故王服丧。

She shocked me by refusing to go into full mourning.

她拒绝戴重孝，这使我大为震惊.

2. in mourning：服丧，戴孝

讲解：in在这里的意思是“穿”的意思，mourning是指“戴孝服”，in mourning直译是“穿戴孝服”，引申为“在戴孝之中”的意思。

例句：The women began to wail in mourning.

5. be up to sb

讲解：这是习惯用语，在口语中用得非常广泛，意思是“有某人决定”。使用这个短语时，主语通常是it，要表示做某事有某人自己决定的话，用这个句式：It is up to you to do something.

例句：I don't care when you clean the house. It's up to you.

我才不管你什么时候打扫房子呢，这由你自己决定。

It is up to you to decide when we will start.

这该有你来决定我们什么时候出发。
