SAT经典范文赏析

日本拘留营 Japanese Internment Camps
Nicole T. One fascinating example that creative individuals are needed in society is Fred Korematsu's protest against the internment of Japanese Americans. With FDR issuing Executive Order 9066 after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, all Japanese Americans were forced to move to internment camps. Knowing the order was a direct violation of individual rights, Korematsu evaded internment. He was arrested later on for disobeying the law. By taking his case to the Supreme Court, Korematsu decided to fight against the blatant racism against Japanese Americans. Not only did Korematsu attempt to overcome racial discrimination, but also gain equal rights for Japanese Americans. Although the Supreme Court ruled against the case, Korematsu v. United States demonstrated the racism involved in the unfair treatment of Japanese Americans during World War II. However, Korematsu's courage and creativity lives on forever and reminds us to eliminate racial discrimination and preserve equality.

点评:本段写的是关于二战中日裔美国人的生活的一段鲜为人知的小插曲。作者十分注意细节描写。Nicole不仅写到了罗斯福签字的判决书,还提到了最高法院案件"demonstrated the racism involved in the unfair treatment of Japanese Americans"。
