K.h)_ia.N+W2~4@[|8N

Clashes broke out between pro government supporters and anti-government protesters in Kiev Saturday. Local TV coverage showed masked anti-government demonstrators kicking and using sticks and baseball bats to beat opposing protesters. Tensions remain high in Kiev's Independence Square where Monday's deadline to remove barricades and vacate occupied buildings looms. Some progress was made Saturday to dismantle portions of the barricades as part of a deal with the government. Anti-government protesters who have been occupying the square and public buildings for the past three months allowed heavy machinery to remove parts of the barricades in exchanged for the negotiated release of detained protesters. President Viktor Yanukovich- who shunned a trade deal to with the European Union last year-is trying to dampen tensions before he picks a new prime minister. Although anti-government demonstrators remain highly suspicious about any conciliatory offers from the government.

Jack and Beryl Pengelly don't usually go to the market by boat... But as flooding, heavy winds and rain continue to inundate parts of southern England it's becoming more and more the norm. Some parts of the country have been underwater for more than a month after the wettest January on record leaving homeowners displaced and crops ruined. Friday, gale force winds tormented coastal areas including Hampshire where 32 diners enjoying a Valentine's Day meal had to be evacuated. Prime Minister David Cameron toured a flood relief center in Surrey over the weekend as soldiers prepared some of the flood relief efforts. Cameron said the clock is ticking to get resources in place.

British weather officials have forecasted improved conditions in the coming days, although even a little rainfall could mean more flooding as the ground is beyond the saturation point. And still residents do their best to remain optimistic.
