People love their bacon,their hot dogs and sausages, but a new report says processed meat can cause cancer.

Reporter: Good morning.While bacon and other meats are a part of our culture, so much so that this popular spot here near this café itself as a ham house.

Reporter: Matchit regularly sits down at nick's café for bacon and sausage. what he is not buying is the latest health warnings:these American staples can lead to colon and other cancers.

Reporter: This doctor treats colon cancer and he says the findings released today considered more than 800 studies from around the world.They concluded cured meat like bacon, hot dogs and deli meat are carcinogenic.He says eating just one serving roughly the size of a hotdog or meat patty everyday is believed to increase your risk of getting colon cancer by 18 to 20%.

Reporter:The scientists also lables red meats as possibly carcinogenic and said they could be linked to other cancers like those of prostate and pancreas. He says that is because animal fat has also been linked to cancer formation.His suggestion, eat meat only once or twice a week.

Reporter: Rob davis owns the café and says he has modified his menu and as taste have changed and the doctor hopes parents will especially take notice of this study, so children learn to eat diets that may prevent cancer.
