基本概况
Zhengzhou University is the only one of the national“Project 211”universities in Henan Province. It is a comprehensive university co-built by the Henan Provincial Government and the State Ministry of Education with 11 disciplines of science，technology，medicine，art，literature，history，philosophy，law, economics，management，education and agriculture.
郑州大学是河南省唯一的一所国家“211工程”重点建设高校，是拥有理学、工学、医学、文学、历史学、哲学、法学、经学、管理学、教育学、农学等十一大学科，国家教育部和河南省人民政府共同重点建设的综合性大学。
Zhengzhou University consists of four campuses and covers the total area of 433 hectares with 1 .65 million square meters of a total construction area. The total collection of the university library reaches 5. 3 million volumes.
郑州大学包括4个校区，总占地面积433公顷，建筑面积165万平方米。馆藏书530万册。

The University has a teaching and administrative staff members of 5 861 3 056 are academic staff of teaching and research，15 are academicians with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Engineering(among which 3 of them are full-time and 12 are part-time scholars )，529 professors，[019 associate professors，221 Ph. D. tutors，and 1 573 Masters Degree tutors. Of the teachers，960 have Ph. D. degrees that account for 31.4% of the total professional teachers. There are 15 national experts of distinguished contributions，171 experts are winners of special government allowance，81 excellent specialists of Henan Province，228 excellent provincial youth backbone teachers，9 teachers chosen into National million talents program，26 committee members of the Guiding Committee for Higher Education Instruction of the Ministry of Education，2 teachers awarded the honor of“State Outstanding College lecturers" and 7 awarded the honor of“Outstanding College Lecturers”of Henan Province.
校本部现有教职员工5 861人，其中，专任教师3 056人。在专任教师中，有职院士3人，双聘院士13人，教授529人，副教授1 019人，博士生导师221人，硕士生导师1 573人;其中%0名教师具有博士学位，占专任教师总数的31.4%。有突出贡献专家15人，享受政府特殊津贴的专家171人，河南省优秀专家81人，河南省优秀中青年骨干教师228人，人选国家百千万人才工程9人，教育部高等学校教学指导委员会委员26人，国家级教学名师2人，河南省教学名师7人。
The university is acknowledged for its strong capabilities of fundamental research and applied research as well as for its scientific innovation and consists of 43 schools and departments，5 affiliated hospitals，offering 86 undergraduate programs，34 first-degree graduate programs，218 second-degree graduate programs，8 first-degree doctoral programs，72 second-degree programs，1 professional doctoral program，7 professional master programs，7 post-doctoral research stations，1“State Base for Teaching and Research in Fundamental Sciences"，1 “State Research Base for Cultural Quality Education of College Students"，2 national-level key disciplines，6 key disciplines granted by the national“Project 211”and 57 provincial key disciplines. There are a variety of 169 scientific organizations，with one State Center for Engineering Research，one State Popularizing Center for Technology Research，2 key laboratories of the Stole Ministry of Education，one State Research Base for Clinical Practice of Medicine，10 provincial key laboratories(Engineering Research Centers)，7 higher institutions key discipline open laboratories of Henan Province，one animal experimental center of Henan Province，one key research base for the study of humanities and social sciences(co-sponsored by the State Ministry of Education and Henan Provincial government)and 9 higher institutions key research bases for the study of humanities and social sciences of Henan Province.
学校具有较强的基础研究、应用研究和科技开发能力。现有43个院(系),5个附属医院，86个本科专业，34个一级学科硕士点，218个二级学科硕士点，8个一级学科博士点，72个二级学科博士点，一个专业博士授权点，7个专业硕士学位点，7个博士后科研流动站，一个国家理科基础科学研究和教学人才培养基地，一个国家大学生文化素质教育基地。2个国家级重点学科，6个“211工程”二期重点学科建设项目，57个省级重点学科。现有各级、各类科研机构169个，其中有一个国家工程研究中心，一个国家技术研究推广中心，2个教育部重点实验室，一个国家药品临床研究基地，10个省级重点实验室(工程中心),7个省高校重点学科开放实验室，一个河南省实验动物中心，一个省部共建人文社科重点研究基地，9个省高校人文社会科学重点研究基地。

历史变迁
1956 Zhengzhou University was founded.
1956年原郑州大学创建。
2000 The original Zhengzhou University，Zhengzhou University of Technology and Henan Medical University were merged to form the new Zhengzhou University.
2000年原郑州大学、郑州工业大学和河南医科大学合并组建成新的郑州大学。
