A pregnant woman in northern China died this week after she fell unconscious on a busy city street and got her head stuck in a fence, Chinese media reported on Wednesday.
根据中国媒体上周三的报道，陕西省一名孕妇在头晕后欲扶住街边护栏休息，期间却不慎将脖颈滑入防护栏中，最终导致窒息身亡。
The incident, which occurred last Monday, has sparked a debate in China about the safety of the white, round-topped fences that line many of the country's city streets as a deterrent against jaywalking and driving in the wrong lanes. It marks the third time since 2010 that a person has died after getting wedged between their rails.
这期事件发生在上周一，一经传播便在中国引发了关于街边防护栏的全民讨论。中国许多城市的道路中央都设有圆顶的白色护栏，其目的是防止行人乱穿马路以及车辆乱变车道等交通行为。此次事件是自2010年一位行人被栏杆挤压致死之后发生的第三起类似事件。
Videos online show the young woman with her head wedged in a chest-high fence on a street in Yulin, a city in northern China's Shaanxi province. She wore a black Mickey Mouse sweater and black pants. Her right knee was also squeezed into the fence, and her left knee rested on the ground behind her. A small black handbag lay on the road.
该事件发生在中国西北地区的陕西省榆林市。网上视频中显示，这位年轻孕妇的头部卡在齐胸高的防护栏中间。她上身穿了一件黑色米老鼠毛衣，下身穿了一条黑色长裤，右腿跪在防护栏里，左腿跪在水泥地面上，旁边还放着一个黑色的手包。
"She seemed to feel dizzy, and intended to lean against the railing to take a rest, but then fainted and her head slipped into the rails," the state broadcaster CCTV quoted an unnamed bystander as saying.
据CCTV引用一位不愿透露姓名的旁观者的话称："她看起来不太舒服，应该是想要倚着栏杆休息一下，但是没过多久就晕倒了，头部也滑进了防护栏中间。"
A small crowd gathered around her, and eventually, a handful of onlookers attempted to pull the fence apart, but failed to extricate her. The woman was soon pulled free by emergency responders, according to CCTV.
据CCTV报道，事件发生之时有一部分行人进行围观，一段时间之后有几个围观者试图掰开卡住女子脖颈部的交通防护栏，但未能将防护栏掰开更大间隙。后来，急救人员赶到并将该女子救下。
The woman died soon after entering the hospital, the Beijing News reported, citing an unnamed source at the local Mizhi County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

She had just dropped off her 11-year-old daughter at school, according to Huashang News, a local newspaper.

"Heartbreaking!" wrote a user of China's popular Sina Weibo microblog with the username There is No Real Me. "The design of the fences should be reevaluated. The gap between the fences should either be broadened or removed. This case is not the only one in China in recent years!"
新浪微博一位名为"并不是真正的我"的人气博主对此事评论道："这件事实在太让人心痛了。防护栏的相关设计问题应该给予重新检测与评估。护栏之间的距离要么加宽要么干脆就不要有空隙。中国近些年来类似的悲剧实在太多了。"
