The Buk missile that downed flight MH17 was brought from Russia and fired from a region in eastern Ukraine controlled by pro-Russian rebels, according to a report of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) released.

The Dutch-led JIT said its conclusions were based on a wealth of evidence, including forensic examinations, witness statements, satellite images, radar data and intercepted telephone calls.

Russia dismissed the findings. Dmitry Peskov, Vladimir Putin's press spokesman, said "the whole story is unfortunately surrounded by a huge amount of speculation and unqualified, unprofessional information."
